Transportation & Land Use
Two new Ford 12-passenger vans were recently purchased for the GO MAINE Commuter Program with funds from the MaineDOT. These vans will replace existing vans on the Auburn-Lewiston to Augusta and Portland to Augusta express commuter vanpool routes.
The new vans have been retrofitted to include 3-point safety harnesses in each transit-style seat for added safety and comfort. The side entrance has been built with a bus step, and the first row seat has been designed to flip up to facilitate easier entry and exit of the van. Each seat comes with transit-style lighting to add to rider comfort and relaxation while en route to and from work.
