Electric Vehicles (EVs) are a popular choice for municipal fleets, providing fewer tailpipe emissions and lower fuel and maintenance costs compared to gasoline vehicles. Portland, South Portland, Scarborough and Falmouth have one or more EVS in their current municipal fleets.
GPCOG is aware of two auto manufacturers offering incentives for EVs specifically for municipal fleets. Nissan is offering a $10,000 incentive for their all-electric LEAF. Ford is offering a range of incentives for different EV and plug-in hybrid models.
Toyota is also offering a rebate for the Prius Prime Four, although the rebate is not specific to muni fleets. More details below. Please contact your local dealer for more information.
Incentives are available until March 31st for the 2017 Nissan LEAF. This 100% electric vehicle offers significant savings in fleet costs and vehicle maintenance with an 8 year/ 100,000 mile warranty. The Model Year 2017 LEAF “S” 30kWh is domestically built and qualifies for Buy America.
Ford is offering various incentives ranging from $500 to $2,000 on several 2017 Ford models including: C-Max Energi, C-Max Hybrid, Focus less S series, Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi. For more information on all-electric and plug-in hybrid Ford EV models please contact your local dealer.
Toyota is offering a $1,500 cash rebate or 0.9% financing up to 60 months, 1.9% for 72 months, on the Prius Prime Four. This is a consumer-facing rebate, not an incentive specific to muni fleets.
