New Business Recovery Grants

New pandemic relief funding is available to help small business owners in Greater Portland who started their businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and have not received state or federal recovery funding to address the economic impacts of the pandemic. There is a total of $500,000 of funding available. Grant amounts range between $5,000 and $20,000, depending on the size of the damages. Funding comes from the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan. 

Eligibility

  • Must be a Maine-based business located in one of the following municipalities: Bridgton, Cape Elizabeth, Casco, Chebeague Island, Cumberland, Durham, Falmouth, Freeport, Frye Island, Gorham, Gray, Harrison, Long Island, Naples, New Gloucester, North Yarmouth, Portland, Pownal, Scarborough, Sebago, Standish, South Portland, Windham, Westbrook and Yarmouth.
  • Must have fewer than 250 employees. 
  • Began operations after Jan. 1, 2020 and before May 11, 2023. 
  • Suffered negative economic impacts due to COVID-19 and has not been reimbursed by any other state or federal pandemic relief program.
