The Town of Windham announced steps to improve social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to protect residents and staff. Effective March 17, 2020 through April 1, Windham's town offices will be open for business by appointment only. The public is urged to use online services available through the town's web site as much as possible. Those services that not accessible via the town's website can be provided by appointment. Staff also are prepared to assist customers navigating online transactions.
When making an appointment for services in person, callers should be prepared to answer the following questions:
- Have you traveled outside Maine in the last 30 days? If so, where?
- Was your travel to or from a confirmed hot area (Level 3 – CDC)?
- Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
- Difficulty breathing
- Shortness of breath
- Sore throat
The April 1 due date for 2019-2020 tax payments has been extended to June 1, 2020. Interest will be waived during this period. A new deposit box will be installed at the town offices this week so payments may be dropped off anytime. Payments may also be mailed, and the town is exploring credit/debit payments as well.
The Town services at all levels will continue, with some modifications, while others are postponed. Please see the town's website (www.windhammaine.us
) or call the appropriate department for further information.
