Posted on March 18, 2020 at 4:45 PM by Tom Bell

Coronavirus Response Update 03/18/20 - 3:00PM

Effective 3/18/20, the following facilities are closed until further notice:
Freeport Community Library
Freeport Train/Visitor Center

Effective 3/18/20, the following public buildings are closed to the public, and have been restricted to as-needed/emergency access only. These buildings will remain open at reduced staffing levels to perform essential services only. The Town has the ability to complete many regular transactions online. A list of online transactions can be found at the following website: https://www.freeportmaine.com/online-payments. If you need assistance with a Town service or function that is not available online, please contact the appropriate department at the following numbers (or by email), and we will attempt to complete your request remotely. Due to our reduced staffing model, many employees will be working remotely, and will have the ability to check their email and voice messages during that time, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Town Hall - 865-4743
Public Safety Building - 865-4800
Public Works - 865-4461

At this time the Freeport Recycling Center will remain open on its regular schedule. Employees have been ordered not to handle your materials, and to maintain appropriate distancing from customers for their safety. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause. Additional guidelines for facility users will be posted at the entrance to the facility. We ask that you observe any temporary rules or guidelines that are posted at the facility.

Effective 03/17/20, by order of the Town Council, all Town Council, Board, and Committee meetings have been cancelled until at least 04/28/20.

The Town has cancelled or postponed all non-essential social events and programs at Town facilities until at least 05/01/20.

Freeport Community Services (a separate non-profit from the Town) is also regularly posting updates regarding the services it provides to the community, which can be viewed here: http://www.fcsmaine.org/covid-19-update/
