Freeport is introducing mixed-use housing development that will add housing density to a downtown that for years has served as a shopping destination for tourists. As retail patterns shift, officials envision it becoming more of traditional downtown that offers a healthy mix of retail, local businesses, housing and services. Similar to the redevelopment of Scarborough Downs, this project underscores an emerging trend in urban planning and real estate economics.
Who should attend: The Oct. 25 forum is for everyone in our region who wants to add new life and vitality to downtowns. People will also be able to attend virtually.
