Steve Howell, chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials task force on biodiesel standards, will speak at a Sept. 26 workshop hosted by Maine Standard Biofuels and Maine Clean Communities.
Howell is also the founder of the agriculture consulting firm MARC-IV and is the principal US liaison for biodiesel standards development with the International Organization for Standardization and Comité European de Normalization.
With a background in chemical engineering, Howell since 1992 has served as the technical director of the National Biodiesel Board.
Geared toward state and local fleets, the biodiesel workshop will feature an overview of biodiesel, experience and lessons learned from fleets that have used biodiesel, a Q&A opportunity with biodiesel experts, and a tour of the Maine Standard Biofuels facility.
